History of a friendship between the inhabitants of Marly (Switzerland) and a village of Tamil Nadu to the South of India

       

 

Our association in brief

Our Association is composed of approximately 150 members and aims at a humane goal which joined two objectives:

  • The financial support of achievements for social goal in the area of Kurumbagaram
  • The creation of solidarity and bonds of friendship between the children, young people and adults of Kurumbagaram and members of our Association, like with the population of Marly.

The prime objective is concretized by the organization of many activities intended to collect money.

Each year, we organize sales, in particular with St. Nicolas and the day of mutual aid of the parish. We take part in the flea market and set up lotto's and various research projects of funds for the financing of our projects.

Each particular project is the subject of a detailed study presented by the Sisters of Kurumbagaram. Then, after the reflexions of the committee, it must be adopted by the members of the Association at the time of the general assembly

In addition, the parish of Marly, through several annual searches, ensure the financing of the program of distribution of meals to more than three hundred children among neediest who attend the school of the Sisters of the St-Joseph Convent.

As for the second objective, it is carried out in particular in the following forms:

  • Regular correspondence between the Association committee and the Sisters of St-Joseph.
  • Visits of members of Association to Kurumbagaram.
